Preparing for an Onsite Network Assessment

Confirm Scope and Stakeholders

Review the signed scope of work and ensure the point of contact list includes facilities, security, and IT stakeholders.

Schedule a 30-minute kickoff call to finalize access requirements, available documentation, and building security procedures.

Share the customer network diagram and inventory spreadsheet with the assessment team at least one week before the visit.

Prepare Network Access

Create temporary read-only credentials for network switches, firewalls, and wireless controllers that expire at the end of the engagement.

Stage console cables, ladders, and any special access keys needed to reach wiring closets or equipment racks.

Verify that all critical infrastructure devices have recent configuration backups stored in your secure repository.

Communicate with End Users

Send the notification template provided in this article to inform employees about potential brief connectivity tests.

Let the front desk know the NTS engineering team will arrive with identification badges and a signed visitor agreement.

Document any scheduled maintenance windows or blackout periods so our engineers can plan testing accordingly.
